We're trying to find more information on this art glass inkwell made in a cobalt blue, with an interesting fired outside texture. The only things we really know are that it's from the Art Nouveau period and could've been made by anyone.... Galle, Daum, Marinot, Thuret or any number of art glass makers.  It's certainly an inkwell, and most likely early 20th century.  It stands 2 3/4" x 2 3/4".   If you have any information on this ink, please let us know.

Reader's Responses:

Hello, It to me looks like an Art Nouveau period whimsical perfume bottle, dating from around 1910, even with the pontil. It looks to have possibly had a brass metal collar around the top with bonding cement, to accommodate the atomizer. As the neck area looks like it was more precisely made for that purpose. The opening looks too narrow for an ink bottle. My first impression was, Oh! its an ink! But after looking at it longer, to me it looks like an end-of-day bottle for the glass worker's wife or daughter. Was curious what other bottles may have been found around it, if any, to determine the true age. Then it may be more clear to what the bottle actually was, or possibly contained...  ~ Ed K. ~

Looks like an end of the day ink where they would take all the extra glass and just use it up, truly an ink bottle. Nice pontil and wear marks so it is real. Cool little bottle

Ahh, let's see. It's a gear-shift knob from a 1041 Ford. yeah, that's it, that is the ticket. That is what it is. No? Let's see, ahhhh, it is a transponder diode for the X15R2415 Gyronmeter. Yeah, that's it, that's what it is. No? I don't know, why don't you have some kind of a page set up and people can guess what it is. Call it, "What Is It?" or something like that.

From Think Ink, Chicago- Do not think this is an ink, more likely a whimsy piece from a glassworks employee.  Nice piece even so.  -Keith
