Gold Rush Collection Stolen

5/25/05- RENO, NV-  The following email was received in our ABA offices.  A request was made for its publication:

Dear Holabird America Clients:

We have received news that an important gold rush collection was stolen last week from one of our clients. It contains numerous unique and very rare items that are easily identifiable. These items include:

1/2 plate gold rush ambrotype

large leather gold poke marked "TMB"

Dag of a gold miner with a hand colored blue shirt

Comstock style miners candlestick

12 rare Nevada and California railroad lanterns including  Virginia & Truckee RR and Nevada Northern RR lanterns.

It is important to me that we, as a collecting fraternity, stick together to apprehend thieves. Over the past twenty years we have worked with other dealers, collectors and law enforcement agencies to apprehend at least three criminals responsible for more than a dozen thefts.

Should you, or persons known to you, be offered any or all of this material, please immediately contact Mr. Rudy Oest, Contra Costa Sheriff's Department, 925-313-2655. Case No. 0513431.

A reward will be offered for the arrest,  conviction and return of the goods. Please contact Fred Holabird for details. 775-852-8822.

 Thank You all.

 Sincerely,

 Fred N. Holabird
